As Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie begin their divorce proceedings, their former bodyguard has spoken out about his time with the family, and the father-like role he was forced to take on with their children.

Speaking with The Sun, Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham, who was the couple’s head of security for 18 months, admitted that their biggest concern was ‘the kidnapping of the kids, it’s all about money’.

But working with Brad, 52, and Ange, 41, saw Billy growing close to the duo’s six kids – Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox – and he was one of the few staff reportedly trusted to be around them.

‘Angie and Brad are very worried about who goes near their children,’ Billy reveals. ‘It was clear from the start we had a great chemistry and they trusted me with the kids. We got very close, I was living with them all the time. I could take the kids anywhere I wanted to on my own.’

‘No-one else was allowed to do that. Even when I wanted to bring in extra people, they wouldn’t let any of those near the kids. They could look out for them from a distance but they couldn’t physically touch them. I took them swimming. I fathered them, basically,’ he adds.

Billy eventually ended up leaving the position as it was keeping him away from his own family; however, when asked about their split, he says he was just as shocked as the rest of the world when Angelina filed for divorce from Brad last month.
