She was the famously single, confident Samantha Jones on Sex and the City, but Kim Cattrall has confessed that the role cost her her marriage to Mark Levinson.

The series’ hectic filming schedule caused the relationship to eventually break down, with 60-year-old Kim confessing that ‘it cost me my marriage because I was never home’.

‘I was never there and my husband got lonely and upset and competitive, and it was really difficult.’

The couple were married for the duration of the show’s run from 1998 to 2004, and even published a book together in 2001 titled Satisfaction: The Art of the Female Orgasm.

However, while Kim’s character was overtly sexual and confident, she seriously differentiates herself from her character, and admits that it’s tricky while dating because men can’t separate her from her fictional role.

‘I think it’s sort of a double-edged sword in a way because it’s a great compliment, but at the same time, I’m not like that character in any way.’
