Justin Bieber faces off with Hamish Blake’s dad in a fierce game of ping pong

Bieber fever might be sweeping the nation but there’s one person who doesn’t really give a hoot - Hamish Blake's dad Noel!

So what happens when you team the world’s biggest pop sensation with a humble Aussie grandfather for a ping pong battle?

Magic! Absolute magic.

Radio powerhouse Hamish and Andy were lucky enough to secure some time with the What Do You Mean hitmaker during his whistle-stop tour of Australia this week to promote his hit new single.

And instead of doing the usual run-of-the-mill interview, the Gap Year stars instead facilitated the ultimate sports smack down between Biebs and Hamish’s papa.

Indeed, when the singer isn’t being a global superstar, he also has deep passion for ping pong.

Billed as the “international sporting event of the century” the Blake Bieber cup did not disappoint.

Not afraid to poke fun of himself ahead of the match, a good-humoured Justin told Hamish and Andy of his opposition: “I’ve been actually studying his tapes for the past few years, trynna get ready for it. Like how Mayweather watches videos of Pacquiao. I’m just picturing somebody who is old, I guess.”

Meanwhile Noel, who is the proud grandfather to Hamish and Zoe’s one-year-old bub Sonny and a dab hand at the game, struggled to even remember the name of his rival.

“Who are you playing again today?” Hamish asked his dad.

“Justin Biebler… Oh no! Bieber! I’m getting better, I was calling him Jason Bieber early on,” Noel admitted.

Game on! The unlikely duo went head-to-head in the ultimate ping pong battle.

“Classic stance my dad always adopts before he plays Justin Bieber at table tennis. #teamnoel,” Hamish penned on Instagram alongside this hilarious snap.

While Bieber got off to a shaky start, in the end he reigned supreme with a 21-12 victory over the comedian’s dad.

Following his epic ping pong victory in Melbourne, the Calvin Klein underwear model jetted to Sydney on Wednesday for a two hour set on his very own Bieber Island (aka Sydney’s Cockatoo Island), hosted by KIIS and iHeartRadio, for around 1000 lucky fans.

Speaking to Sunrise hosts Sam Armytage and Kochie ahead of his VIP gig, Justin addressed his wild past and promised he was a changed man.

“It’s awesome to have so many people accept me again and know I’m on a good path,” the 21-year-old explained.

“Before I hung around with bad people and I now surround myself with people I trust. I learned not to put my belief in what people think. I get my belief from myself and God,” the Canadian-born star vouched.

“‘I just want to go skate all the time now. That period was a testing time, finding out who you are.”

During another interview with Complex magazine he went one step further, proclaiming he wants to “live like Jesus.”

“Not be Jesus – I could never – I don’t want that to come across weird. He created a pretty awesome template of how to love people and how to be gracious and kind. If you believe it, he died for our sins,” he told the publication.
