Rove McManus and his co-host, Sam Frost, have been dumped from their breakfast morning show due to poor ratings.

Southern Cross Austereo have confirmed the pair have been bumped into an evening slot, which will air from January 30 between 7pm and 8pm.

In a statement released on Friday Sam explained: “I’m pleased to move on with my friend Rove to our next gig, as well as undertake other commitments outside of radio,” Frost said.

“One of the pleasures of 2016 has been working with Sam so I am looking forward to continuing working with her in 2017 at a more civilised time of day,” Rove added.

Speaking of their decision to shake things up, SCA said they came to their decision after reviewing things over the summer break and “decided that the best route forward for all was to move their show into another time slot.”

Rove and Sam have been replaced by comedians Em Rusciano and Harley Breen.

This latest blow comes just days after Sam announced her split from boyfriend, Sasha Mielczarek.

Replacing Rove and Sam, who first hit the airwaves together on November 9, 2015, for the highly-contested gig will be comedians Em Rusciano and Harley Breen.

“That’s a combination of my two resting states: excited and terrified. I love radio, I’ve been in and out and in and out again for 12 years! I’m like the herpes of radio,” Em said.

Breakfast radio is a notoriously brutal slot to crack but the pair gave it their best shot.
