Sophie Cachia changes the name of her 2-week-old baby

The Young Mummy has picked quite an usual name!
Sophie Cachia changes the name of her daughter

The Young Mummy blogger Sophie Cachia has announced on Instagram that she’s changing the name of her new baby from Betty, to Florence! The mum-of-two doubted the name Betty from the start, but now has made the switch official.

Sophie captioned her story in the cutest way, by pretending to be writing it from the perspective of her eldest son, Bobby. It describes how the blogger first started to doubt the name Betty while “drugged up and hormonal” but then the decision to change the name was finalised when her husband admitted her didn’t think it suited the baby either.

“So y’all want to hear a funny story? My mum & dad fked up. Like, bayyyyyyd. Mum was all drugged up and hormonal and started to doubt my sissy’s name as soon as she was born. A few days later, she totally snapped out of it and fell in love with her name all over again. That was until Daddy came along and dropped the bomb on us both that he started to doubt the choice too. LOLZ. Good one Dad. Fair to say mum went into bonkers-batshit-meltdown-mode. It wasn’t that they didn’t LIKE the name anymore, something about her chubby cheeks not suiting it and the feel just wasn’t right. So I’ve been given the gig today to formally RE-introduce my little sister. Mum & Dad say her name is apparently Florence, but me being the boss two year old I am, have chosen to nickname her Flossy which is really sticking (for me anyway). Apparently this st happens to parents all the time, but sucked in to mum because she unfortunately has to inform over 250k people #spewing. They wanted me to get my head around it first before they told anyone else. #mumplease I totally got it in the first hour. To my folks, it’s really not that big of a deal. Cmon, she was 8 days old when they changed it… it’s not like she will remember. Just like I hope she won’t remember that I honked her nose wayyyyyyyy too hard today. #FlorenceBettyMargaretCachia

Sophie first admitted on Snapchat that she was having doubts over the baby’s name: “I’m starting to worry she doesn’t look like a Betty. And doubting if I should have gone with the other name,” she said.

Sophie has declared her most recent pregnancy will also be her last.

“‘Well, I have turned one person off having children and that’s myself because I will never, ever do that ever again,” the mum posted on Snapchat, after she live-blogged her 20 hour labour.

Although she faced criticism from the public about her decision to document child birth on Snapchat, she stands by her choice.

“I’ve spent days, weeks, months and years TRYING to describe certain things to family, friends and followers about the beautiful/hideous process that labour is,” Sophie explained at the time. “There will be no edits, no filters, no worries on my behalf as I concentrate on my number one job that day – and it’s to bring a healthy bub safely into the world.”

Her 170,000 Instagram followers have watched her every move throughout this pregnancy, so it only seemed fitting they would be there for the beautiful finale.
