And the name they've chosen is rather wild...

Congratulations are in order for Zooey Deschanel and hubby Jacob Pechenik who have welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Charlie Wolf Pechenik.

A representative for the couple confirmed the exciting news in an official statement.

“Zooey, Jacob and their daughter Elsie are overjoyed to welcome the newest member of their family,” their rep told People.

The duo are yet to release any further information as to the baby’s height or weight and haven’t yet gifted fans with a first picture. But our eyes are peeled!

Charlie joins the couple’s first child Elsie Otter, who was born in July 2015.

And if you’re sensing a theme of sorts in the new family-of-four, you’d be right… each child’s middle name takes its inspiration from the animal kingdom.

Following Elsie’s arrival, Zooey, who is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Jess on the sitcom New Girl, explained the thought process behind her daughter’s unusual middle moniker during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“We thought Elsie is kind of a classic name, a lot of people have grandmas and aunts name Elsie. And then we were like, the middle name can be a little bit… wild,” she said.

“I love animals so much. And we love otters because they’re so cute, and playful, and fun. And they’re really smart. We liked that otters had these particular attributes.”

In an interview with Redbook last May, the much-loved star described motherhood as a “huge accomplishment”.

“I’ve never really felt like an adult. But I think it’s a huge accomplishment to have a child so maybe I feel like an adult for that reason!”

She added: “I’ve slowed things down a bit. I think it’s good for your whole self – your creative self, your professional self, and just your soul – to take a little time for yourself and your family. You can spend your while life going after things, but I think you risk missing out on some really powerful self-reflection.”

Congratulations again to the happy family!
