Yesterday it emerged that long before Amber Heard’s messy divorce from Johnny Depp and her domestic abuse allegations towards the actor, Amber, 30, was arrested for misdemeanour domestic violence back in 2009.

At the time, Amber and her then girlfriend Tasya van Ree were travelling through an airport when Amber is said to have grabbed Tasya’s arm, and was subsequently taken into custody.

Now, in the wake of both Amber and Johnny’s legal battles being flung into the spotlight, Tasya has come forward in support of her ex-girlfriend, years after the two split up.

When speaking about the incident, Tasya, 40, claims Amber’s arrest was an act of homophobia, saying, ‘In 2009, Amber was wrongfully accused for an incident that was misinterpreted and over-sensationalised by two individuals in a powerful position.’

‘I recount hints of misogynistic attitudes toward us which alter appeared to be homophobic when they found out we were domestic partners and not just “friends”. Charges were quickly dropped and she was released moments later.’

Tasya continues, ‘It’s disheartening that Amber’s integrity and story are being questioned yet again. Amber is a brilliant, honest and beautiful woman and I have the utmost respect for her. We shared five wonderful years together and remain close to this day.’
