Ben Stiller has shocked fans by announcing that two years ago, at the age of 48, he survived ‘aggressive’ prostate cancer.

The now 50-year-old actor revealed on The Howard Stern Show that ‘it came out of the blue’ and that at first he ‘had no idea.’

‘At first, I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was scared. It just stopped everything in your life because you can’t plan for a movie because you don’t know what’s going to happen.’

The Zoolander actor is now choosing to speak out in the hopes that other men will get tested for the disease, as he underwent a preventative health exam in 2012 that he says saved his life.

‘(I was) fortunate because my cancer was detected early enough to treat. And also because my internist gave me a test he didn’t have to. Taking the PSA test saved my life. Literally,’

The actor continued on to speak to a bunch of doctors – including Robert De Niro’s, as the actor has survived the disease – and is now happy to announce he is two years cancer free.
