Blake Garvey and Louise Pillidge’s relationship had anything but normal beginnings. Both falling in love on The Bachelor, the pair announced they were a couple after Blake, 33, had already proposed to winner, Sam Frost.

However, after 18 months together the pair announced on Monday that they have split, and further sat down with Today Tonight to discuss the toll their relationship had on their mental health.

Focusing specifically on the way public scrutiny towards the couple affected their wellbeing, Blake said:

‘I’ve gone through bouts of depression and I know we’ve both gone through some acute anxiety,’

‘You get looks and you know that you’re starting a series of conversations in the room just because you’ve entered it. That and many (other) factors make you really self concious.’

Louise, 29, further added that people were really lovely to the couple’s face, but the backlash online was unbearable.

Blake and Louise are adamant that the split was amicable and mutual, although Lou has gone on to say that she’s still recovering from the emotional turmoil.
