Our hearts go out to Celine Dion, who, just days after losing her husband, René Angélil, has seen her beloved brother die of cancer.

Daniel Dion, 59, died on Saturday, surrounded by family. The brother of the award-winning artist was the eighth out of fourteen children in the Dion family.

Rene, Celine’s husband of 21 years, also battled with cancer for many years before his passing last week.

The 73-year-old was the singer’s manager for decades and helped her to achieve stardom early on in her career. They had three children together.

In March last year, Celine spoke out about the extent of her husband’s throat cancer, which was first diagnosed in 1998, though he recovered until a relapse in 2013.

Revealing that she was his primary carer, the 47-year-old singer said: He can’t use his mouth. He can’t eat so I feed him. He’s got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day. I do this myself. So I feed my husband, then I feed my kids.’

Surrounded by the love of his family and friends, René Angélil passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016, on the eve of…

Celine also opened up about her experience: ‘Life is not always perfect. You have to deal with it. Whatever life imposes – sickness, or whatever, you don’t have a choice. This is life, this is nature. But you do have the choice on how you’re going to go through this.’
