My Kitchen Rules is soon to return for its seventh season, and despite the hit cooking show not sizzling on our screens just yet, there’s one controversial contender who’s already causing a stir – Melbourne lawyer Zana.

‘Can’t stand her already,’ reads one of the more forgiving comments on the show’s Facebook page.

As the focus of MKR promos, the 24-year-old is seen delivering scathing critiques and unpleasant facial expressions.

#MKR Season starts Feb 1!Meet Legal Eagle Zana. She’s super confident…but sometimes things just don’t go to plan.

Her behaviour appears to provoke judge Manu Feildel – who returns alongside Pete Evans, Colin Fassnidge and a new, yet-to-be-named female judge – in her and husband Gianni’s instant restaurant.

‘You’ve been around this table, really confident about your cooking, and now you stand here shaking like a leaf,’ Manu tells the downcast-looking brunette.

But Zana tells OK! the incident, and almost everything we’ve seen of her to date, is down to clever editing.

‘Things are taken out of context,’ she explains. ‘Manu definitely wasn’t singling me out, so it’ll be interesting to see the context of it when the show airs.’

Barrister Gianni, 27, says the judges liked them. ‘They were genuinely interested in helping improve our cooking ability,’ he says.

‘I know it looks like I’m the villain, but I think that opinion will change fairly quickly,’ Zana adds. ‘Monique has caused more controversy around the table than anyone!’
