Idris Elba has a licence to kill our dreams, as the British actor has shot down the rumours that he’s in line to play the next James Bond.

Speaking with Good Morning America, the star told the hosts, ‘It is the wildest rumour in the world’ that he’s a leading candidate to step into the role after Daniel Craig.

‘I keep saying if it were to happen it would be the will of a nation because there’s been no talks between me and the studio about any of that. But everywhere I go people want that to happen,’ he says.

The 43-year-old further stirred fans by joking that he wasn’t particularly interested in the role anyway.

‘If I’m really honest, man, I think I’m too old for that… Running around in cars, and ladies and martinis, who wants to do that? That sounds terrible.’

Maybe the role will go to Tom Hiddleston after all?
