Fainting models, late arrivals and more angry fashionistas than you could shake a stick at – it’s no wonder Kanye West’s New York Fashion Week show for Adidas has been described as a ‘hot mess’.

Kanye unveiled his Yeezy Season 4 collection at New York’s Roosevelt Island on August 7. The 39-year-old rapper chose the site’s abandoned Smallpox Hospital as his venue of choice, but guests were far from impressed when they learned they would be transported by chartered buses – which picked them up at 1.30pm ahead of his 3pm show.

‘Overheard on the Yeezy Season 4 bus: “It feels like we’re being kidnapped,”’ Sole Collector editor-in-chief Gerald Flores tweeted.

‘We’re still on the bus,’ added Elle.com. ‘We are on 57th and Fifth Ave. The bathroom is broken. Yeezus, save us?’

The actual show finally got under at 4.30pm, with many blaming the late arrival of Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian and her sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

Things went from bad to worse as soaring temperatures took their toll on the models, with one fainting before the show began. Another model had to be escorted by a shocked audience member after she started to faint on the runway, while Tyga’s rumoured former flame, model Amina Blue, had so much difficulty walking in her shoes, she ripped them off before continuing down the catwalk.

High-profile models including Chanel Iman, Sofia Richie and Kanye’s Fade video star Teyana Taylor couldn’t save the show, which was savaged by critics.

‘Honestly Adidas should be ashamed,’ wrote Stella Bugbee, editorial director of The Cut, before labelling the show ‘really bad’, ‘shameful’ and ‘horrible’.
