It’s become somewhat known in Hollywood that Katherine Heigl can be difficult to work with, and some may remember that in 2008 she had a very public falling out with Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes.

In 2007, the 37-year-old won an Emmy for her work on Grey’s, but in 2008 her name was noticeably absent from the ballot. When asked why she wasn’t nominated for a second year, Katherine said:

‘I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention,’

Naturally these comments didn’t go unnoticed, and Katherine managed to burn bridges with all of the Grey’s Anatomy creators.

However, in a new interview almost 8 years later she has tried to explain the situation.

‘I wasn’t feeling good about my work that season. There was a part of me that thought, because I had won the year before, that I needed juicy, dramatic, emotional material and I just didn’t have that that season.’

She even tried to apologise,

‘I went in because I was really embarrassed, so I went into Shonda and said, ‘I’m so sorry, that wasn’t cool. I should not have said that and I shouldn’t have said anything publicly’

The actress admitted that her shattered reputation sent her to therapy due to not handling the scrutiny well,

‘I was feeling completely like the biggest piece of shit on the bottom of your shoe… It was very hard.’

Despite her reputation, Katherine has two movies in the works and is the face of a kitty litter company.
