The 41-year-old thanked all his fellow nominees and ignored the ‘wrap-up’ music to deliver a heartfelt speech about protecting indigenous lands across the world for future generations.

‘I want to share this award with all the First Nation People represented in this film and all the indigenous communities around the world,’ he said.

Next stop, the Academy Awards. We’ve got our fingers crossed for you, Leo – bring home that Oscar!
