‘That wasn’t my dream, I didn’t know that came with playing cricket for Australia.’ he admitted to 60 Minutes journalist Allison Langdon.

The breaking point in the couple’s relationship reportedly came when Michael flew home from New Zealand and confessed, ‘I got to a stage when I came back that I actually couldn’t stay in my own house’.

‘I didn’t feel comfortable. So I ended up hiding in the boot of my mate’s car, he picked me up in the garage, um and snuck out without the media… seeing me.’

Rumours circulated the couple following the break-up, including one that Michael flushed her $200,000 engagement ring down the toilet during a feud.

‘I’d like to say I’m a very silly man, but I’m not that silly. I’m not throwing any diamond ring down a toilet. Complete, made-up, 100 per cent bullshit!’

Michael is now married to Kyly Clarke and Lara now married to Sam Worthington. When she was asked about her split by News Corp in 2013 she admitted that it was ‘the best thing I ever did’.

Sounds like these two are better off apart!
