Bachelorette turned radio host Sam Frost has urged her listeners to undergo regular Pap tests to screen for cervical cancer, following a scare of her own.

The 27-year-old co-host of the Rove & Sam show on 2Day FM admitted she was heading into surgery next week to remove some pre-cancerous cells that showed a ‘high-grade abnormality’.

Speaking with Rove this morning, Sam said, ‘You get the regular STI [tests], no dramas – but there’s a different one that you get to check if you’ve got cancerous cells, if there’s any abnormalities… That’s the one that I went in to get done.’

Reassuring listeners that everything was OK, she took the opportunity to urge women to regularly get themselves checked out.

‘I wanted to have this opportunity to say to the ladies, and even the guys out there to get their girlfriends on board or their sisters: go to the doctors and get a pap smear. It is so uncomfortable and it’s the worst, and I know so many of my friends that put them off,’ she explained.

‘It’s a really common thing and it’s so easily treated. If you don’t catch it then obviously it advances into more scarier things. But if you get it at this stage, easy-peasy, no dramas, [it’s] a nice, simple procedure,’ she added.

‘So, ladies, please call your GP, get it out of the way and just know that S Fro’s on your side.’
