Following reports that Russel Crowe ejected Azealia Banks from a gathering in his hotel room, the American rapper has appeared on Access Hollywood to refute witness’s claims she got aggressive, instead accusing Crowe of assaulting her.

Banks explained through tears during the TV interview that she was at Crowe’s party trying to score a record deal with producer RZA, who invited her to the bash.

She claims that when she arrived Crowe was drinking and began to mock her career and music videos, to which she responded, “’Well nobodies checking for you right now… so whoa whoa whoa let’s settle down”, before getting into a fight with a female guest and getting kicked out by Crowe.

“He chokes me, picks me up, throws me out of the room and spits on me,” she said.

Banks claims that at this point she looked to RZA for support, but it looked like he was worrying that he’d “f–ked up his seat at the table with the white guys”.

The rapper has caused controversy with racist comments in the past. Back in May she was banned from Twitter and dropped from planned festival appearances following a verbal attack on One Direction singer Zayn Malik.

“Every time, every time something like this happens I’m always like being blamed for, like, wanting this kind of attention,” she continued.

“Like who the f–k wants to tell somebody they got spat on? You know, that’s humiliating. And I’m just like really, really humiliated.”

RZA shared a fairly opposite turn of events on Facebook following the incident.

Banks also denied threatening the guest with a broken glass.
