Cory Monteith died from heroin and alcohol overdose

An autopsy has revealed that Glee star Cory Monteith died from a “mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol”.

The post-mortem results by the British Columbia Coroners Service were released earlier than expected due to the high levels of public interest.

In releasing the finding, the coroner said there was no evidence of foul play: “It should be noted that at this point there is no evidence to suggest Mr Monteith’s death was anything other than a most tragic accident.”

Cory, 31, was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on Saturday. The actor had been open about his struggles with alcohol and substance abuse, and recently finished a month-long stint in rehab.

Meanwhile, Cory’s co-star and girlfriend, Lea Michele, is said to be mourning his death with his family. “Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends and fans,” her representatives told People.

“Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them.

“They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together.”
