The night’s most colourful and energetic performance was praised by fans of David Bowie worldwide, but it appears Duncan Jones couldn’t get in on the hype.
Just moments after Gaga performed the medley of the music icon’s biggest hits, his son shared a questionable tweet that quickly went viral.
The 44-year-old director tweeted out the Oxford English Dictionary’s definition of “gaga.”
“Overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused.’ Damn it! What IS that word!?” he wrote on Twitter
It remains unclear what Duncan was trying to say with his Tweet, but there is no question that Lady Gaga’s tribute was marveled by many.
The night’s second biggest winner, Taylor Swift, couldn’t look more pleased as she watched the spectacular show in front of her and the rest of the audience were quick to follow as they exploded into applause when it ended.
And the powerful performance was felt by those watching from home.
Bette Midler tweeted: “Lady Gaga slays it!!! And there’s the great #nilerogers … David Bowie lives. God, I miss him.”
Reese Witherspoon added, “that Bowie tribute gave me chills”, while Ellen DeGeneres wrote: “That was so great. You’re always going to another level.”
The epic performance had everyone (except Duncan) on their feet.
The eight minute tribute saw her cover 10 of the British star’s biggest hits: Spade Oddity, Changes, Ziggy Stardust, Suffragette City, Rebel Rebel, Fashion, Fame, the bass lick of Under Pressure, Let’s Dance and Heroes.
With her vocals on point, the only thing that could match such a range was her incredible costume changes along with the “digital skin” technology.
Gaga was highly emotional about her tribute to her hero, David Bowie.
Clearly it was so much more than a performance to the award-winning songstress.
Prior to the show, the eccentric pop superstar took to Instagram, penning, “The world loves you David.” Earlier this week, Gaga got a tattoo of the legendary musician on her rib cage.
David was 69 when he passed away earlier this year after privately battling cancer. He is survived by his wife, Iman, their teenage daughter, Lexi, along with his son, Duncan.
