Keeping Up with the Kardashians celebrates its 9th anniversary!

Find out how the sisters are remembering 12 seasons of reality television!
Keeping up with the Kardashians

Time flies when your life is a reality TV show!

Nine years ago, the very first episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians hit the small screen for the very first time.

Since then, we’ve enjoyed watching the dramatic lives of our favourite A-list family as they navigate their way through high-profile events, action-packed adventures and, of course, plenty of household drama.

On Friday, October 14, Kylie, the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner Klan, celebrated the airing of the show’s very first episode with a hilarious, vintage throwback from the first episode in 2007.

A lot has changed…

The clip, shared to the star’s 76 million Instagram fans, shows each member of the family introducing themselves, adding their most well-known personality trait.

The snippet features a much younger Kim, who is fondly referred to as “the princess” by her elder sister Kourtney.

A then-brunette Khloe is quick to admit that she’s been crowned a “b—h” by her sisters in her introduction, before proceeding to yell at them.

Of course, they’d be no show without the Kardashian matriarch, Kris Jenner, who uses her introduction to proudly proclaim that she’s both “the mom” and “Kim’s manager” – a title she’d later go on to combine, resulting in the famous term, “Momager.”

“Kim, it’s your world, I just live in it,” a sassy Kris tells her daughter.

Caitlyn Jenner, who went by Bruce at the time, also takes a moment to shine, saying, “I’m a pushover for my family!”

“So we’re six kids and two crazy parents,” Kim summarises. “We’re the modern day Brady Bunch, with a kick.”

Kendall and Kylie, who were pre-teens when the show began filming, have grown up in the spotlight.

Since the reality show first hit screens, and our hearts, in 2007, the lives of its cast have changed exponentially.

Kim, who back then described herself as a wardrobe assistant, now has designer brands lining up to have their garments worn by the selfie Queen.

She’s gone on to start a family, welcoming two adorable kids with rapper husband, Kanye West, and has a global empire that includes a $100 million dollar app among other countless ventures.

Crowds follow the family wherever they go.

Though their show no doubt had the recipe for success, it’s hard to imagine that the Kardashians could ever have predicted the magnitude of the spotlight that would follow the pilot episode.

In Kim’s first ever interview for KUWTK, she reveals why she thinks the show will be destined for greatness.

“Well I think that there’s so many of us, so all of our personalities are so different and I think that people probably wouldn’t think that such a big family would work because there’s too many characters to follow.”

She went on: “Our chemistry together is just so amazing that people will definitely want to be a part of this family.”

The interview by E! News was conducted during filming for the show’s debut episode. When asked what it had been like so far, Kim replies: “It’s really kinda crazy, you know?”

“At first you think that you won’t really get used to the cameras and then you just forget they’re there and we’re just kinda hanging out, doing what we usually do.”

She explains, “We want it to be all the way reality, so we’re like let’s just do what we do and have the cameras capture our real lives.”

Earlier in the month, a shadow of doubt was cast over whether KUWTK would continue following Kim’s terrifying Paris robbery.

While season 13 was put on hold, filming reportedly resumed last week.

As for whether television’s first family has another nine years in them remains to be seen.

Now there’s a younger generation to carry on the families ways.
